Back from the US!

Wow, 5 weeks went by really quickly and I'm finally back in HK.

During my 5 weeks there, I've learnt a few things about myself, the people, and of the "U,S and A".

1) Is my English that bad?!
No one seem to be able to comprehend my Aussie-accented English whenever I make an order. No matter what I say, they seem to consistently give me the wrong order?!

2) I actually love my toiletries!
During my time there, I lost my luggage. Permanently. So I have came to find out that, I actually REALLY LOVE MY CREAMS! At the begininning/end of each day, not being able to perform these luxurious 'daily rituals' made me feel a little awkward (and not to mention, in a bad mood!). But on a side note, I miss my pretty clothes as well. And frankly, I'm a bit bummed about loosing all my 'trophies' conquered from shopping malls and souvenir shops.

3) I actually don't have a sense of direction.
Despite Geography being my best subject in year 12, I seem to lack the ability to properly comprehend the map, know which way N/S and E/W is, and consistently seem to get lost in every city, especially the in the 'Big Apple'. So the moral of the story is? Always rely on really smart and competent friends (which I'm blessed to have on the trip ).

4) Americans have perfected the art of creating fast-food.
Their hamburgers and french fries are SOOO DELICIOUS! During our time there, we had fast food at least once a day (be it breakfast or lunch - there were only one or two rare instances where we grabbed fast food for dinner.. I think....) simply because it was fast. But I didn't mind because their hamburgers were SO mouth-wateringly juicy and their fries were SO crunchy! My personal fav was Wendy's. They have the best meat patties. And ESPN Zone in Time Square, NY has the best fries of all times!  mmmmmmm....

5) No matter how they claim they're the biggest in "the southern hemisphere", Australia is actually really small.
Every city I've been to in the US is so beautiful and unique. I was amazed to find how many different ethnicities reside together (Australia is not nearly as Multicultural compared to the US!). Many subcultures emerge because of how big the place is. All of this diversity actually makes me think "wow, Australia is truely small". I personally love the bright lights, the vibrance and the liveliness of a big city. Each city that I've been to is awe-inspiring, and possesses a mysterious energy that is alluring yet uniquely different. This is made possible because of how big the land is! If given a chance, I would definitely go back!

Haha yeah, loosing my lugguage was a pain, but at least my insurnace will pay for my new shopping! Bruhaha! So not all bad.

There is no clear winner as to which is the best city, because there was something I liked (and unliked) in each city. But if I had to pick the top 3, it would have to be NY, LA and Miami!
NY - it is truly an amazing city that never sleeps! Love the vibrance and the energy from that city that I would not feel from any other city.
LA - there are SO many HOT PEOPLE in LA! Like OMG... most waiters/waitresses are HOT! (if they were not hot, then they were just really good at their job =P). Any waiter/waitress (on average!) can't easily be the cover boy/girl in the next issue of Vogue or Harper Bazzar (or FHM! hehe). Oh, and I also love the Palm-trees framed streets that iconizes LA.
Miami - love the beaches and the buildings around the area. Its the ultimate place to chill/party. The hotels remind me of mansions owned by Carribean druglords! (Not that I think they're dodgy!)

But I shall talk more about it in my next blog... when I finally replace the cable that I've lost, and can upload photos for a better show-and-tell.

LA... san francisco... hollywood!
from random trivia picked up on imdb.com a lot of actors/actresses/models start off waitressing/bus boying/portering to make quick bucks before they hit it big so perhaps one of ur hot waiters/waitresses is a wannabe model/actor.
maybe one day u can tell ur grandkids "did u know *insert new celebrity name here* once served me coffee?" ^^

Yep, that is the same story I've heard too. Alot of them are just making some money in between auditions and stuff. But man, were they the best-looking waiters/waitresses I've ever seen!
